A - True. The College of William and Mary is the second oldest college. Second only to Harvard which was established in 1636 and chartered in 1650.

James City Board Moves Forward on New Government Complex (est. $80-150 million) 🏫 💰

The James City County Board of Supervisors is moving forward with plans for a new three-story government center, which will consolidate county services and replace outdated facilities. The design will blend modern and traditional elements, aiming to create a welcoming space for residents, with the project expected to cost between $80 million and $150 million. Read more here. 

Williamsburg Local aims for Winter Paralympics🥇

Williamsburg resident and U.S. Army National Guard veteran Amanda Seward recently completed in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games, earning multiple medals, and is training for the 2026 Winter Paralympics in snowboarding. After losing her leg in an accident, Seward found new purpose in adaptive sports and aims to inspire other women to embrace their strength and resilience. Read the full story here. 

Free Clothing Giveaway 👕👚🧢

Smith Memorial Baptist Church is hosting its annual giveaway for community members in need of clothing. Browse men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, and get needed items for free. Local residents interested in donating clean, gently used clothing can drop off items in the church gym. Monday through Friday, August 12 -16th, 9am - 2pm.
