At The Early Burg, we decided to do something different. Our Recommended Businesses section isn’t a directory. It’s a shortlist, and every single name on it has earned its spot.
What “Recommended” Actually Means Here
When you see a business listed in our Recommended section, it means we — Nathan or Zach, the founders of The Early Burg — have personally stood behind it. We don’t take that lightly. Our name is on it, and so is our reputation with tens of thousands of Williamsburg residents who trust us to point them in the right direction.
Here’s what the process actually looks like:
- The business applies. Every business starts by filling out a detailed questionnaire. We want to understand who they are, what they do, and what they stand for before anything else.
- We reach out personally. If they pass the initial review, one of us — Nathan or Zach — schedules a call or meets in person to dig deeper. We want to understand the business, the people behind it, and their values.
- We do our own research. Behind the scenes, The Early Burg runs an independent vetting process. We’re not just taking a business owner’s word for it — we do our homework.
- We make our decision. The whole process typically takes 24 to 72 hours. If a business gets our recommendation, they join a short, carefully curated list seen by thousands of people across the Williamsburg community. If they don’t, they don’t make it — it’s as simple as that.
We’d rather recommend ten businesses we’d genuinely send our own family to than list a hundred that we can’t speak to personally.
